Witchy Styled Engagement Shoot

I love styled engagement shoots and a witchy styled engagement shoot? I super love it!

Shannon, Jon, and I worked together to come up with the theme of this shoot pretty quickly!

Shannon and Jon have actually known each other since they were teens but lost touch over the years. After a coincidental meeting through OkCupid they realized that they were perfect for each other (Jon had even had a crush on her!) One of their biggest shared interests is all things witchy. Halloween, witches, the woods, pagans, and vikings. After a very quick chat, I knew exactly what we should do. I talked to both about my idea of a type of ritual in the woods. They were really excited even if they couldn’t quite visualize it the way I could.

We included your standard engagement shoot images too. You know, the ones that mom wants to put up on her wall? Then we headed to location #2 nearby in the woods. My assistant for the day had helped me set up the candles and light them. He also kept water nearby so we didn’t chance burning down the forest.

We let Shannon and Jon head into the circle before finishing the lighting and tada, witchy styled engagement shoot! I prompted Shannon with, “Envision yourself as Morticia Adams,” and she nailed it!

After getting the “safe” shots I played around with adding some lighting effects to the background and a mirror to reflect the candles.

I was so excited to deliver these images and Shannon and Jon both love them!! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next year which will also have a very earthy and witchy vibe.

Props:

Crown, black skirt, candles, candelabra, and glass were provided by my collection and can be used in your styled engagement shoot too! Contact me if you are interested and we can chat about what your shoot could look like.
